ICE Locator Release Scope
The ICE Online Detainee Locator System is a current immigration-custody locator, not a Walton County jail archive. It covers people currently in ICE custody and people in CBP custody for more than 48 hours. A person who leaves Walton County Jail may transfer to ICE, transfer elsewhere, or leave custody. The local Release Date alone cannot identify which outcome occurred.
During Walton research, an inmate detail included an ICE-48HR line in the charge or disposition area. That kind of entry signals an immigration-related hold or tracking issue in the local record. It does not prove that ICE accepted custody or that immigration detention continued after the county booking ended.

Check ICE Custody After Walton
ICE provides two main search paths described by USA.gov's detainee-locator guidance: an A-number search or a biographical search. The A-number is eight or nine digits. A biographical search uses name, country of birth, and date of birth. Enter the facts exactly and consider lawful spelling variants if no result appears.

A missing result is not proof of release. The person may be outside the locator's covered population, newly transferred, recorded under different spelling, or no longer in current ICE custody. Direct legal or agency confirmation may be needed.
The Walton release search establishes whether the local booking has a Release Date. Keep that result separate from the immigration-custody question.

The locator is a federal online system. It does not operate from the Walton jail or Sheriff records counter. Protect A-numbers, birth dates, and other personal information and enter them only on the official government service.

Read Walton ICE Hold Fields
A Walton booking detail can contain booking and release dates, scheduled date, bonds, court information, charges, disposition, arresting agency, and case-tracking agency. An ICE-related line should be read within that booking. It can identify a hold issue without supplying the next facility or final federal decision.

Use the Sheriff's open-records channel for a formal local release record. Ask whether receiving-agency or transfer information is maintained, but do not assume every federal detail is held locally.
ICE, BOP, and GDC Differences
ICE immigration detention is distinct from a federal criminal sentence. The BOP inmate locator covers federal prisoners and release dates from 1982 forward. A person can leave BOP custody and then enter ICE custody. Search both systems when the case history supports both possibilities.
GDC covers Georgia state offenders. Its active and inactive search is the correct route after a state-prison sentence. The Georgia Parole Board and DCS handle parole and community supervision. None of those systems confirms ICE custody.
Georgia VINE can supply participating custody-status notifications, but it is not a substitute for ICE's locator. Likewise, the GBI registry covers qualifying registrants and is not an immigration or general release database. Choose the system based on the legal custodian.
No public Walton-specific U.S. Marshals release list was found. A federal writ in the county booking may require the federal court, U.S. Marshals contacts, BOP, or ICE depending on the event.
Document the Walton-to-ICE Path
Start with the local booking number, subject number, Release Date, arresting agency, and case-tracking agency. A focused Walton request can ask for the release date and time, discharge authority or order, release type, and receiving agency or transfer information if maintained.
Walton Sheriff's Administration page says open-records requests receive a response within three business days. Email is preferred due to volume, and fax or in-person routes are also listed. A response may supply the record, identify an exemption, quote fees, or give a production schedule.
Next, preserve the date and search criteria used in the ICE locator without publishing sensitive identifiers. If the locator does not settle the question, contact ICE through its official route or seek qualified legal assistance. County staff cannot provide a final federal immigration determination.
Court records may explain the local charges, bond, dismissal, sentence, or transfer order. They may not contain later immigration proceedings. Treat each record as one stage of the custody path.
Limits of ICE Release Searches
The locator emphasizes current covered custody rather than a complete release history. It may not return people who left ICE custody, people outside covered CBP timing, or records that do not match the submitted biographical details. Absence must be described cautiously.
A local jail disappearance is equally limited. The current XML roster shows present Walton inmates, not releases. A person can vanish from that feed because of release, transfer, refresh timing, or a name issue. Open the prior booking detail and confirm the Release Date.
Do not merge immigration detention with criminal guilt or court disposition. A hold, transfer, or locator result answers a custody question. The criminal court file answers local case outcomes, and immigration proceedings follow a separate legal process.

Date the ICE Custody Check
The search date matters because the locator emphasizes current custody. Keep the date and criteria used without exposing the A-number or birth information. A later search may change after transfer or release, and the official or legal record should be used for any consequential next step.
If family or counsel receives direct agency information that differs from an older public result, follow the current authorized source. The Walton booking and ICE record still describe different stages and should remain separate in any written timeline.
